BAH Queen's University, L.L.B. University of Toronto (Dean's List, graduated with Honours), law clerk to the Honourable Mr. Justice Strayer, Federal Court of Appeal, called to the Bar in 2000.
Shaun works extensively in civil litigation. She represents individual and institutional clients in a wide range of workplace related issues, including wrongful dismissal, human rights, negligence and malicious prosecution, and class proceedings. Prior to joining the firm, Shaun gained a strong background in media law and defamation. Shaun is also involved in public law litigation, including in relation to administrative law and Charter issues. She was recently counsel in a successfully litigated class proceeding against the Ontario government on behalf of 50,000 Ontario public service retirees.
Shaun's practice also focuses in the health sector, including professional regulation. She represents both individual and institutional clients in College disciplinary matters. She also assists institutional clients in a wide range of matters including funding negotiations, injunctions and bankruptcy litigation. She is currently cousel on behalf of a large group of nurses bringing action against the Ontario government in relation to SARS.
Shaun has a particular interest in issues relating to women's rights and she represents her clients in cases of discrimination and abuse. She is the past President of the Women's Counselling Referral and Education Centre. She has also volunteered at the Barbra Schlifer Legal Clinic providing legal advice and assistance to women who have suffered abuse.
