The Ontario government has agreed to pay Cavalluzzo LLP $320,000 for the fees incurred associated with the Basic Income Class Action, which was certified last month *I will link to the certification post here*.
This Class Action commenced nearly 5 years ago, in March 2019, and was brought on behalf of the 4,000 low-income individuals who participated in the Ontario Basic Income Pilot.
Though the pilot was meant to last for three years, the Ford government cancelled it after only 1. The sudden cancellation caused great upheaval to participants.
